Junk removal customers usually want help now. Someone is moving out Saturday, a basement flooded, a landlord needs a unit cleared, or a family is clearing out a parent’s home. They search, look at the first few options on the map, and call whoever looks trustworthy and available. Your Google Business Profile and your printed materials need to make that decision easy.
Part 1: Your Google Business Profile
Service area, not a storefront
Set up the profile as a service-area business, hide your home address, and list the cities or ZIP codes you actually serve. Keep it to an area you can reach quickly, especially if you offer same-day pickups.
Categories
“Junk removal service” is the usual primary category. Add secondary categories only for work you genuinely do, such as debris removal or furniture removal if they fit. Avoid categories for services like demolition or hazardous waste unless you are set up and permitted for them.
Services and how pricing works
List the jobs people search for: furniture removal, appliance removal, mattress removal, garage and basement cleanouts, estate cleanouts, move-out cleanouts, yard debris, hot tub removal, light construction debris. Briefly explain how you price, for example “priced by how much space your items take in our truck, with a free photo quote.” Our junk removal pricing guide explains load-based pricing.
Be clear on what you do not take
Many items, like paint, chemicals, tires, propane tanks, batteries and some electronics, have special disposal rules that vary by city and state. Mention in your description or Q&A that some items cannot be taken or carry extra fees. It saves you awkward conversations on site.
Photos that sell
- Before-and-after garages, basements and yards
- Your truck or trailer, clean and branded
- Your crew in uniform shirts, carrying items carefully
- Donation drop-offs, if you donate usable items
Description
Plain and specific: “Locally owned junk removal across Pinellas County. We haul furniture, appliances, mattresses and full cleanouts. Free photo quotes, same-day and next-day pickups when available. We donate and recycle what we can. Insured.” Only claim what is true.
Make the quote link work
Junk removal is ideal for photo quotes: customers snap a few pictures and you reply with a price range. Link your profile to a quote form that accepts photos, and test it on a phone regularly. Image uploads are one of the most common things to break on small business forms, and a broken one means lost jobs you never hear about. Leadhound’s free website form check can test it for you.
Reviews and responsiveness
Ask every customer for a review by text right after the job, with a before-and-after photo. Reply to every review. Answer calls and messages quickly, because junk removal customers often call several companies and book the first one that answers with a clear price.
Part 2: Flyers, door hangers and truck signage
What to put on a flyer or door hanger
- A clear headline: “Junk Removal. We Do the Lifting.”
- A short list of what you haul: furniture, appliances, mattresses, cleanouts, yard debris.
- How pricing works: “Priced by truck space. Free photo quotes.”
- A trust signal: locally owned, insured, a short review quote or your star rating.
- One way to act: “Text a photo to [number]” plus a QR code to your quote form.
“Text us a photo” is one of the most effective calls to action in this business because it takes the customer ten seconds.
Where flyers work for junk removal
- Apartment complexes and property management offices, with permission
- Storage facilities
- Real estate offices, estate sale companies and senior move managers
- Door hangers near a job you just completed, with the customer’s OK
Check your city’s rules on door hangers and posting signs. Never place anything in mailboxes, and avoid illegal yard or pole signs, which can bring fines and a bad reputation.
Your truck is a billboard
A clean, branded truck or trailer with your name, phone number, website and “Text a photo for a free quote” in large letters works all day. Keep it readable from a distance: business name, what you do, and one contact method. Our guide on choosing a junk removal truck or trailer covers the vehicle side.
Get photo quotes built into your website
Our junk removal starter kit includes photo-based quote requests, load-size pricing, same-day booking, and a dump fee and donation drop-off checklist. The done-for-you launch also sets up your Google Business Profile. We build the kit once 25 people vote for it, and voters get 20% off at launch. Vote for the junk removal kit.
Google’s profile guidelines change, so check their current rules. Disposal, signage and solicitation rules vary by city and state.
