Free CSV to Excel Converter

Convert CSV, TSV or TXT files into a real Excel .xlsx file. The separator is detected for you, the header row comes out bold and frozen, and zip codes, phone numbers and long IDs keep their leading zeros. Your data never leaves your device.

Free tool, provided as is with no warranty. It runs in your browser, and your files are never uploaded. You are responsible for having the rights to any file you use with it. Read the disclaimer.

How to convert CSV to XLSX

  1. Drop one or more CSV, TSV or TXT files into the converter above.
  2. Check the preview. Change the separator or header setting if it guessed wrong.
  3. Download the .xlsx file, or a ZIP if you converted several.

Why Excel drops leading zeros (and how this fixes it)

When you open a CSV straight in Excel, it guesses each column’s type. Zip code 02134 becomes 2134, a phone number like 0412 555 123 loses its zero, and an 18-digit order or tracking number turns into 1.23457E+17 with the last digits gone for good. This converter keeps values like these as text, so they arrive exactly as they were in the file.

It also handles exports from other countries: if your file uses semicolons or tabs instead of commas, it spots that and splits the columns correctly.

Questions

Is my data uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser. Customer lists, sales exports and anything else you convert are never sent to us or stored.

Does it work with Google Sheets?

Yes. Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice all open .xlsx files.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes, up to 50 files at a time, each up to 50 MB. Each one becomes its own spreadsheet, downloaded together as a ZIP.
