Mobile Dog Grooming Prices: How to Price by Breed, Size and Coat

Mobile dog grooming prices by size and coat: $75 to $160 a groom, Price by coat type, Rebook every 4 to 8 wks

Mobile grooming customers are paying for calm, one-on-one care without a car ride or a crate full of barking dogs. That is worth more than a salon visit, and your prices should reflect it. Here is how most mobile groomers set their menu.

Typical mobile grooming prices

  • Small dogs (under about 20 lb): about $75 to $110 for a full groom
  • Medium dogs (about 20 to 50 lb): about $90 to $130
  • Large dogs (about 50 to 90 lb): about $110 to $160
  • Giant breeds and heavy double coats: $150 and up
  • Bath and tidy only: often $20 to $40 less than a full groom

These are rough US ranges and are usually higher than local salon prices. Check what other mobile groomers in your area charge, not just the big pet store chains.

Price by coat, not just size

A 15 lb doodle can take longer than a 60 lb Labrador. Many groomers group breeds by coat type (short coat, double coat, curly or drop coat) and set a size-and-coat price grid. Ask for breed and weight on your booking form so the price is clear up front.

Fees for matting and behavior

  • Dematting: often charged per 15 minutes, with a shave-down recommended for severe matting
  • Difficult or aggressive dogs: an extra handling fee, or a policy that you can end the groom if it is unsafe
  • Flea treatment: an extra fee and extra van cleaning time
  • Late cancellations and no-shows: a fee, because your van and your day were blocked

Add-ons

  • Teeth brushing
  • Nail grinding
  • Blueberry or specialty facials
  • De-shedding treatments
  • Paw balm and pad trims

Multi-dog households and rebooking

Two or three dogs at one stop is the best day you can have, because you skip the drive between appointments. Many groomers offer a small discount for additional dogs at the same address. Rebooking every 4 to 8 weeks keeps coats manageable and your calendar full, so book the next appointment before you leave.

Cover your van costs

A grooming van is a big investment, often tens of thousands of dollars, plus fuel, generator maintenance, water and insurance. Work out what the van costs you per month, divide by the number of dogs you can realistically groom, and make sure your prices cover it before you count your own pay.
