Free SVG to DXF Converter
This free SVG to DXF converter turns an SVG into a DXF file for your laser, CNC or CAD program. It keeps one layer per colour and keeps open lines open, in millimetres. Nothing to install, and your file never leaves your computer.

How to convert an SVG to DXF
- Drop your SVG into the converter above. The free version takes up to 5 files per batch.
- Check the preview. Each colour in your SVG becomes its own DXF layer.
- Set the finished width in millimetres so the DXF opens at the right size.
- Download the DXF and import it into LightBurn, xTool Creative Space, Fusion 360 or your CNC software.
Text in your SVG? Convert it to outlines first
The converter works with shapes and paths, not live text. If your SVG has text, convert it to outlines (also called “object to path” or “create outlines”) in Inkscape, Illustrator or Cricut Design Space before you drop it in. Otherwise the text will be missing from the DXF.
Questions
Does it keep layers?
Yes. Each colour in your SVG becomes its own DXF layer, so you can set different cut and engrave settings for each one. Open lines stay open instead of being closed into shapes.
Will it open in LightBurn or Fusion 360?
The DXF is a standard file in millimetres, which LightBurn, Fusion 360 and most CAD/CAM programs import. We haven’t tested every program, so check the size and layers after importing and before you cut.
Is it free?
Yes, with no sign-up. Your files are never uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.
