How to convert a JPG to SVG

  1. Add your JPG. Drop it in, paste it, or choose it from your computer. Drop several to convert them all at once.
  2. Pick what you’re making. Layered vinyl is selected for you. Switch to Single-colour vinyl, Laser cut or Flat colour SVG if that fits better.
  3. Download. Set the finished size and download the SVG, one file per layer, or a DXF.

Why JPGs need extra care

JPG files have no transparency and are compressed, which leaves faint smudges around edges and a solid background behind your design. This converter removes the background colour from the edges in, folds the smudged edge pixels back into the right colour, and drops specks too small to cut. If a little background is left, raise the background Strength slider or use the Eraser.

Questions

Is a JPEG the same as a JPG?

Yes. JPG and JPEG are the same format with a different file ending, and both work here.

Why are there extra colours in my layers?

Compression adds in-between shades. Set Colours to the number you can actually see instead of Auto-detect, and the extra shades merge into the main colours.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own computer. Your image is never sent to a server.
