Start with one task you want to finish: edit a document, compare research sources, write a script, or organize a project. Describe what a useful result looks like before choosing a subscription.
Test the same task
Give each tool the same sample input and instructions. Judge the result by accuracy, usefulness, and the amount of correction it needs. A polished answer is only valuable if you can use it.
Check the whole workflow
Can you export your work in a useful format? Can the tool work with the services you already use? Is the connection included in your plan? Check the provider’s current documentation rather than assuming that a feature in a demo is available to your account.
Separate subscription and usage costs
Record the price, billing term, renewal amount, and any usage charges shown in checkout. Confirm whether automation or API use is included. Keep a copy of the receipt.
Make the decision
Keep a tool when it consistently completes a recurring task better than your existing setup. If two tools do the same job, compare their results before keeping both.
Your checklist: one defined task, one sample test, verified export, verified connection, clear billing, and a reason to keep it.
